The market place on a Saturday was a social event, particularly for housewives. It provided them with an atmosphere to be updated on the latest gossip and the opportunity to restock their homes with fresh produce. A visit took hours since every few steps mom stopped to greet a friend, “Ay gyal, long time no see…”
The myriad of fruits and vegetables created a picturesque scene on the retina but the stench (fish, meat and produce mixed) was undeniably horrendous.
Vivid description of a typical Caribbean market settings. It draws the reader in and a sense of suspense is created for the next blog.

The blog truly represented the Caribbean market early Saturday and Sunday mornings. Reading about the stench of the market brought back so many memories. I love the play on the senses (both visual and aroma). Additionally, the market also portrayed Caribbean people negotiating skills. Looking forward for more pieces. Excellent!

This brought back memories, 😊😊😂😂😂😂, and yes the stench was horrible, but when it came out the pot on the stove, I would lick my fingers like there was never another meal coming up😂😂😂😂. I would always admire the way each had their space and how uniformed their items would be placed. I still go to the market, and I still enjoy looking at the we’ll placed produce and kaleidoscope
